Our Central Concord team came across Marlon and noticed his finger was in very bad shape. It was extremely swollen, likely infected, and his ring was pinching his finger and causing discoloration. Our team offered him some first aid items but ultimately decided it would be better to transport Marlon to the hospital to receive care. Our team walked into the hospital with Marlon to ensure they would check him in and treat his finger. They insisted on checking all his bags and pockets prior to entry. Evidently, they had seen Marlon for previous injuries, so they had a patient file for him. Our team used the extra time to talk to him about Jesus. We pray healing for his finger but more especially forgiveness from sin and new life through a relationship with the Savior.
At a bus stop in North Concord, our team stopped to talk to two men: Tony in the purple hat, and "Psycho Dave" in the green hat. Tony was quietly listening while we had a conversation with "Psycho Dave.” Dave shared about a few of the various trials in his life and that he had a near-death experience. He held up a check for us, written out for $78,000, that looked legitimate but it seemed that the banks weren't accepting for whatever reason. He accepted a Bible from our team and heard the gospel. He did seem more interested in talking then listening. Pray that in future encounters he would be more interested in listening to the gospel presented to him.
In North Concord, our team spent time ministering to Kevin. He moves his cot and personal items from place to place around town. He asked us to pray for his housing situation. He is always friendly with our team and is happy to talk about Jesus. He has a regular job at McDonald's. We would love to see Kevin regularly attend a local church and come to a saving faith in Jesus.
Our NorthCreek team ventured down a long canal trail and made their way across the creek. We found a small encampment of all Spanish speakers. Our team didn't have a Spanish speaker assigned, so they did their best to communicate using Google Translate. Raphael accepted a Spanish Bible, and Maria was thankful to receive the practical items our team offered. We desire to have a Spanish speaker assigned to each of our teams for these occasions. If you speak Spanish and have a heart for evangelism, we would love to have you participate in our ministry.
Jim lives out of his blue Mustang convertible in Martinez. He seemed familiar with the gospel and was willing to take a large print Bible from our team and open it immediately. He also accepted a bagged lunch and a cup of hot coffee. Our team had a good conversation with Jim and prayed for him. Please pray with us that future encounters with Jim will enable further gospel conversations.
Please pray these individuals read the Bibles they received.
