October 3rd Prayer Update

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

We are so thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and share the hope of Christ. We pray that the words spoken during our outreach, the Bibles given out, and seeds planted would take root in the hearts of those we met. We pray especially for those struggling with addiction, that the Lord would break their chains and reveal the freedom found in Christ. Please pray with us that the Lord would remind them of the truth they heard and would draw their hearts toward Him. Please pray that the individuals listed in this report would turn from sin and trust in Jesus, that the Lord would transform lives through these outreaches and that He may receive all the glory.

We are so thankful for the many Bibles that have been donated! We are able to give Bibles to many of the people we meet during our outreaches, along with guidance on how to begin reading and understanding God's Word. We pray that each Bible would find its way into the hands of someone who is seeking truth, and that the Lord would use His Word to draw people to Himself.

We are praising God for your continued support and prayers for our ministry!

During our October 3rd outreach, our teams distributed:

  • 16 English language Bibles

  • 1 Spanish language Bibles

  • 1 Audio Spanish language Bible

  • 6 English language New Testaments

  • 0 Spanish language New Testaments

  • 7 Cross-Talking (Addiction) books

Our Vallejo team had the opportunity to speak with Jay, who has been living in deep despair since the death of his mother ten years ago. We read Psalm 69 with him, pointing him to the Lord for hope and we encouraged him to call upon the Lord and trust in Christ. One of our team members shared their testimony with Jay, and shared with him the reasons for the hope we have in Jesus. Jay was not interested in a Bible study and did not want to take a Bible, but he allowed us to pray for him. Please pray with us that the Lord would break through the despair and sin that have a strong hold on Jay's life, and open his heart to the hope and salvation found in Christ.

Our central Concord team had the opportunity to speak with Pasha. Although Pasha said he believes in Jesus, he also expressed the belief that all religions contain something positive and that truth is found in a combination of different religions. We shared the gospel with Pasha, and explained the uniqueness of Christianity and the saving grace found through Jesus alone. Pasha listened, and it seemed that the message was registering, though he was eager to end the conversation. Please pray with us that the truth he heard would take root in his heart and that the Lord would draw him toward a true understanding of the gospel.

Our north Concord team spoke with Terrance and was encouraged to learn that he reads his Bible regularly and added that his favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17. He openly admitted his struggle with drug addiction and shared that having a dog has kept him from pursuing certain recovery programs. We lovingly challenged him to prioritize getting help. Terrance said he may be eligible for a program next week. We prayed with him that the opportunity would work out and that someone could care for his dog while he receives help. Please pray with us that Terrance will take this important step toward recovery and that the Lord would help him find freedom from addiction through Christ.

Our Antioch team had a good conversation with Debbie and Rick. Debbie shared several Catholic beliefs and expressed that she doesn't like seeing Jesus on the cross. We explained that the cross is at the heart of the gospel- Jesus willingly gave His life for us. We shared John 3:16 and walked through the gospel with them. They listened, allowed us to pray for them, and said they may be open to a Bible study in the future. Please pray with us that the truth of Christ's sacrifice would take root in their hearts and that the Lord would open the door for future conversations.

Our north Concord team was approached by Shamar, who tearfully asked for prayer and was crying out for help. She is struggling deeply with drug addiction and shared that she wants to change. We prayed with her, and she reached out her hands, asking everyone to join their hands together in prayer. Please pray with us that the Lord would break the chains of addiction in Shamar's life and draw her to Himself in genuine faith and repentance.

Our Martinez team spoke with Eddrick (not pictured), who has been homeless for many years and is deeply caught in drug addiction. When when we explained that Jesus came to save us from our sin and that, through repentance and faith in Christ, He takes away the guilt we carry, Eddrick became tearful. He shared that he had never heard this before and carries a great deal of guilt. He asked for a Bible and an addiction booklet. Eddrick and his girlfriend, Rae, have been trying to stay clean and are hoping to attend church together. Please pray with us that Eddrick would turn to Christ in faith and repentance, and that he would find freedom from his guilt and addiction.

Our Martinez team had the opportunity to speak with Jason, who was grateful for food, coffee and clothing.  He shared how his daughter, who has autism and was once unable to speak, began speaking after a church prayed for her. Jason recognized the Lord's work in her life, though he does not yet follow Jesus himself. We shared the gospel with him, and one of our team members sang "Jesus Paid It All." Jason may have been moved and became emotionally uncomfortable, abruptly asking to end the conversation. Please pray that the truth about repentance and turning to Christ would continue to work in Jason's heart and draw him to the Lord in faith.
