March 7th Prayer Update
““But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”
”
Thank you for your diligent prayers for our ministry! We are grateful to see the Lord's provision for us to continue ministering to the homeless. Several new people joined us on our most recent outreaches where we provided bagged lunches and other necessities. It's God's kindness which has enabled us to provide for those in need.
During our March 7th outreach, our teams distributed:
17 English language Bibles
4 Spanish language Bibles
2 Spanish language New Testaments
2 English language New Testaments
5 Cross-Talking (Addiction) Books
Our Vallejo team had a great in-depth conversation with Tom concerning belief and trust in God. They illustrated the difference and Tom concluded that, although he would say he believes in God, he admitted when it comes to his need for salvation he is not ready to repent, submit and depend on Jesus' death on the cross. Tom accepted a Bible and some materials to read. He was left with the challenge that Jesus called on His disciples to not just believe in Him but to follow Him. Please pray for Tom as he considers these things that the Lord would enable him to accept the free gift of salvation.
Our Central Concord Team has been building a relationship with Matt. On a previous outreach, they offered Matt a a leaflet about the bible, and he reported back that he has been reading it every day. The team gave him several different gospel tracts as well. He asked for prayer on behalf of his daughter who is serving in the military and is stationed in Bahrain. Matt is concerned for his daughter and her safety. The team stopped and prayed for his daughter as well as comfort for his anxiety and his need for saving faith.
Our Martinez team spotted Jesse walking down the street, and they stopped to offer him hot coffee, a bagged lunch, and a blessing bag. Andrew and Mark had a long conversation with him about the gospel, but they admit that it was hard to tell if he was actively listening. They were careful to go through a quick summary of man's condition and his need for the Savior. Please pray with us that an element of the gospel message will be transformative for Jesse.
Also in Martinez, our team stopped to talk to a group of three sitting in the park; Dan, Mike and Gloria. They were also open to hearing/discussing a gospel message. The team extended an invitation to them to join in a Bible study. Mike told the team he was a believer, but the longer the discussion went, it was evident he didn't really understand. We are thankful for such opportunities and hope that those who don't understand will be open and receptive to the truth of God's word. Gloria was willing to take a Spanish-language Bible, and we pray she reads it.
Our Vallejo team had the opportunity to talk to a couple, Donovan and Athena. They looked like they were struggling and in a desperate situation. They were thankful to receive coffee and food, and they opened up and shared their prayer requests. They are struggling with various forms of addiction. Their main prayer request was for safety. They wanted to hear what our team had to say about Jesus, and Athena willingly took a Bible. The team presented the gospel message in their prayer for the couple. We hope to see them again and continue conversation with them.
In Antioch, our team stopped by the RV Park to continue our relationship with those parked at the fairgrounds. The photo above was taken on a previous trip to that location. Our team had another Bible study with both Kim and Jessica. They focused on a study of Romans 3 and they were able to walk through the entire gospel message with Bibles open, reading together from the word. Both women have an interest in attending church on Sunday. Our team felt it was a productive and engaging study. Please be praying for both of these women.
