August 16th Prayer Update
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
Amy, during our August 16th outreach, our teams were able to distribute:
5 Spanish Language Bibles
7 English Language Bibles
14 New Testaments
3 'Cross Talking' Books
We are thankful to distribute so many copies of God's word to the homeless community. It is our genuine prayer that God would move in hearts to read His word and the Holy Spirit would enlighten minds to understand. Man's physical condition, although important, is less important than his spiritual condition and his eternal destiny. We desire to first and foremost spread the gospel to the lost before addressing their material needs.
We've had the opportunity to talk to Roy many times over the last year. We've struggled to have good conversations with Roy as he is usually less coherent. On this outreach we had our best conversation with Roy. Roy is from Miami, has been homeless for the last eight years, is in his late 50's, and has several children. We talked about salvation being by grace and not by works. Roy has some familiarity with the Bible. We would love the opportunity to offer Roy a Bible study in our RV in the future. Please pray that we can have other conversations with Roy that are equally deep.
When our team approached Kyle, he remembered previously encountering Hope680 and a few of our volunteers. He was willing to have a long conversation with us about the Bible. He had questions about why bad things happen to good people. The team was able to use that to share a clear presentation of the gospel. Kyle asked for prayer for his friend Marissa. Our team encouraged him to check out the Bay Area Rescue Mission and church to get off the streets. They also encouraged him to read his Bible. We pray we have more opportunities to connect with Kyle.
Our team was encouraged by their conversation with Matt. It seems his heart is beginning to soften towards the gospel and he listened much more than in previous conversations. What was spoken really had Matt thinking about his standing before God and considering what he heard. It was a praise to see some progress with Matt.
Leo told our team he considers himself a "spiritualist" and continues to look into various "religions." Our team often initially ask people 'who do you think Jesus is?" as a way to open a gospel conversation. Leo said he doesn't believe Jesus is God. The team took the route of proving the Bible as being accurate and trustworthy. He was offered a book called '100 Scientific Facts of the Bible," which Leo declined. He also declined prayer. Please pray with us for future conversations with Leo which may be used by God to plant seeds of the gospel.
We were able to have a prolonged conversation with Angelina and open the Bible with her. She listened to the major theme of salvation from Genesis to the Resurrection and why Jesus had to die on the cross. At the end of our conversation, the team offered her a Bible, which she initially declined but eventually accepted. She said while she is from Ventura in Southern California, she has been in Contra Costa County for the past six months, though it's her desire to go back down south. Our prayer for Angelia was that she would seek after God, and he would reveal Himself to her.
Rosie was sitting in her car but was reluctant to roll down her window fully. We were able to pass some food, coffee, and a Bible through the gap while we talked to her about her background in Catholicism. She told us that she was grateful that we were there and grateful to God that He sent us.
Please pray these individuals read the Bibles they received.

Our ministry is a labor of love with the main purpose of providing gospel hope through practical means to the homeless. Thank you for serving alongside of us!
We continue to pray for those who might be able to contribute a small additional monthly gift of $25 or $50 a month to help with ongoing Hope680 expenses, including our ministry supplies, offices, and RV maintenance. We are trusting God to continue to provide through you!
FYI Our Executive Staff and Leaders (including Toby and all team leaders) are unpaid volunteers - all donations go 100% towards the running of Hope680, including administrative contractors, our facilities, and RV maintenance costs, as well as ministry supplies.
