April 4th Prayer Update
“ Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” ”
We are so encouraged by how many people the Lord put in our path during our last outreach! Resurrection Day (Easter) was on quite a few minds, and helped us to engage in multiple conversations. Several of our teams handed out all of their lunches & Bibles! We continue to be grateful to the Lord for providing opportunities to spread gospel seeds. Please pray with us for those mentioned throughout this report, that the Lord would stir a desire in each one to faithfully seek and follow Him in repentance and faith.
During our April 4th outreach, our teams distributed:
16 English language Bibles
2 Spanish language Bibles
4 Spanish language New Testaments
14 English language New Testaments
7 Cross-Talking (Addiction) Books
Save the Date!
Our Hope 680 Walkathon is scheduled for
Saturday, September 12th at the Lafayette Reservoir!
Our Pittsburg/Antioch team had a great opportunity to engage Alejandro with the gospel. Alejandro said he was a believer, but also admitted to having a fentanyl addiction. It was clear that Alejandro did not fully grasp the weight of sin, so the team prayed with him, shared the gospel and encouraged him toward repentance and to refrain from fentanyl use. Please pray that Alejandro would seek help for his addiction and his pursuit in following Christ. He likewise requested prayer to be reconnected with his family, and for employment.
Our Martinez team had the opportunity to meet with Luis again. Luis had previously been given a Spanish Bible, but he explained that the text size had been too difficult to read. We gave him a Spanish tract with larger print. Previously, Luis was offered an optometrist exam & glasses (to be purchased by Hope 680). Luis said he attempted to get an exam, but was unable to follow through with the process. We reminded him that this offer is open, and that we would try to further assist him in this process.
We also had the opportunity to speak with Rich (pictured). We have spoken with him before, but he is still not particularly open to deeper gospel conversations. We informed Rich of the situation with Luis obtaining an eye exam and glasses, and asked if Rich would be willing to help take Luis to get the exam. Please pray for Rich, that his heart would be opened to engage in deeper gospel conversations, and pray that Luis is able to obtain an eye exam and glasses so that we can be a practical blessing in his life.
Our Central Concord team had a good talk with Kareem. We've been speaking with him for many years now, and he told us that he's been working part time doing landscaping. The team told Kareem that Hope 680 would create and order business cards for him, so that he could further his business. Kareem laughed at the thought of this, but they reassured him that it was a serious offer. Kareem said he wasn't ready to take that step yet, but that he would consider it. Kareem is friendly, and the team always has good conversations with him as he shares his dreams of employment, but he was still not ready to have a gospel conversation. We pray God uses these meetings to help soften Kareem's heart toward having a gospel conversation.
Our Central Concord team had the opportunity to engage with Angie & Allie. We have known Angie for 7+ years, and it's always a nice opportunity to share the gospel and pray with her. However, on this occasion, Angie's dog would not stop barking. Angie explained that the dog was the primary reason why she has not been able to live in the apartment that she had been provided recently. The moment the team finished praying with her and said "amen," the dog stopped barking immediately and laid down. Although this didn't seem significant to our team, this was absolutely astonishing to Angie! Angie clearly saw this as an answer to our prayer. It seems like the Lord used this to show her His presence and love for her. We reminded her that God hears and answers prayers. Please pray with us that she is encouraged to trust the Lord in all situations.
Allie had been nearby in a tent, and was very quiet and reluctant to speak with us at first. As soon as the team began praying with Angie, Allie exited her tent and wanted to participate! Allie asked for prayer to be free from her alcohol addiction, as well as for her boyfriend, Jose. The team said it was a sweet interaction, as they witnessed Allie recognizing her need for help. The team shared with Allie how God could help her and they prayed with her. Please pray that Allie seeks the Lord in helping her with her alcohol addiction, and most importantly, that her heart is softened toward the gospel.
We never want to neglect mentioning how large of an impact reading glasses are to our ministry! They give so many an opportunity to read God's Word for themselves! Our Vallejo team had the opportunity to have a long discussion with Kristine (pictured). The team had run out of Bibles by that time, but they were able to give her a copy of the New Testament and a pair of glasses. Kristine was excited to be able to see clearly with her new glasses! Please pray for her eagerness in learning more of the Bible and for deeper gospel conversations.
Near one of the North Concord bridges, our team spoke with Robin. Robin was familiar with Hope 680, as one of her family members had previously participated in our RV Bible Study program. She was sober, able to drive, and was familiar with portions of the Christian faith. She was previously involved in an accident, which caused fogging to her memory; so her conversation with us was a bit jumbled at times. Robin is eager to learn more about the Bible and is interested in participating in a Bible study with us! Our team believes that our RV Bible study would be a good fit for her. Please pray for the Lord to give her a clear mind to hold onto the gospel that she has heard, and that we might be able to meet with her in our RV Bible study ministry.
Our Vallejo team has repeatedly noted that the homeless population has grown in this area. They again passed out all of their supplies during this outreach! This area has a significant amount of believers; many of them wanting extra Bibles to share with their friends. The team had a very positive experience here, and believes it may be a good location to hold a Bible study! Please pray for God's will in this, and that we may have the opportunity to study the Bible and have deeper gospel conversations with the growing population here.
