April 18th Prayer Update

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
— Isaiah 53:5

We are grateful to have the opportunity to engage in many gospel conversations! We spoke with numerous individuals during this last outreach who hold false beliefs and are trusting in false doctrine.

What a privilege we have to hold God's Word in our hands and the ability to faithfully point people to scripture, so that they may learn about God and His desire for a relationship with the individuals we meet.

Please pray with us as we extend His love for these folk in the process. We praise the Lord that we can be used by Him to share the gospel. We pray that the Holy Spirit does the work that we cannot - that He would regenerate hearts, give people hope in Christ, and that the Lord would stir their hearts so they would seek to follow him in repentance and faith. Thank you for praying with us!

During our April 18th outreach, our teams distributed:

  • 11 English language Bibles

  • 2 Spanish language New Testaments

  • 5 English language New Testaments

  • 2 Cross-Talking (Addiction) Books

Save the Date!
Our Hope 680 Walkathon is scheduled for
Saturday, September 12th at the Lafayette Reservoir!

Our Martinez team was in the marina area and had the opportunity to speak with Andrew. We were really encouraged by how he engaged with us and for the productive conversation. Andrew said he wished to repent, and it's our hope and prayer that in fact he does repent and turns his life over to follow the Lord.

We also had an extended conversation with Mike & Danny (pictured). Both of these men had some false beliefs regarding Christianity. Danny struggles with religion, because he feels it can primarily be based on "hate and starting wars." Mike struggles with theology, and repeatedly tried to add false ideas to the gospel throughout our conversation. The gospel was clearly presented to both of them and false ideas were explained away. We continuously redirected our conversation toward Biblical truth. Please pray with us that the Lord would open their eyes to His truth, and they would turn away from their false beliefs.

Our central Concord team had the opportunity to speak with Matt. We have known Matt for a couple of years and have had numerous conversations with him. Matt is very attentive, and conversations with him are thought provoking. We read through a short devotional from Our Daily Bread with him that was based on Ephesians 2:8, and we discussed grace and faith. While we don't know where Matt is in his relationship with the Lord, we have definitely seen progress being made! We believe the Lord has used these interactions to soften Matt's heart toward the gospel, and we would really like to dive deeper into God's Word with him. Please pray with us that the Lord brings Matt to participate in a future Bible study with us!

Our Pittsburg/Antioch team had the opportunity to speak with Don. Don runs a local program which helps provide shelter for people transitioning out of homelessness. Currently, they have numerous people who have lived on the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds property for 2-3 years. Unfortunately, the owner of the fairgrounds no longer wants them on the premises, and as a result, numerous families are being evicted.

Amanda, who is also involved with Base Camps Housing, is responsible for cleaning up the property, but is also being evicted. Amanda is married with three children, and this situation has been difficult for them. Please pray with us that Amanda's family is accepted into a local RV park, and for the Lord to give all of these families guidance and wisdom during their relocation process.

We were also able to have a Bible study with Vicki, Amanda, Amanda's daughter, Ashlyn, while Amanda's husband, Monti, stood nearby and listened. (Amanda, her mom and grandson, and Ashlyn had previously accepted our invitation to see The Story at NorthCreek Church, and they greatly enjoyed this experience!) During this encounter, we went through Isaiah 53, and the Lord allowed us to present the gospel to them in a glorious way. It seemed as if the passage made sense to them, and the Bible study guide sheet was incredibly useful and convicting during this lesson. Please pray for continued rich Bible studies with them in the future, and that Monti's heart would be stirred to participate with us.

Our north Concord team had the opportunity to speak with John (pictured). John had received one of our Bibles a few weeks ago, but felt conviction after being asked how much he had read. Although John seems a bit resistant toward deeper spiritual discussions, we were able to present the gospel with him again. He was open to having us pray for him. Please pray with us that John's conviction leads him to read his Bible, and that the Lord softens his heart to having deeper gospel conversations.

Our Vallejo team visited two different encampments during this outreach, and were really encouraged by the similar encounters that took place at both locations! We shared the gospel, prayed and distributed blessing bags. As we were packing up and heading back to our truck, we were followed by men at both sites, who desired to have lengthier conversations with us!

After our outreach at the first encampment, a gentleman named Jay approached us and engaged in some deeper discussion. We were able to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him, and it gave us the opportunity to share the gospel with him on a deeper level.

After the outreach at the second encampment, we were approached by a gentleman named John. He was very appreciative of the food and coffee, and those offerings helped give us the opportunity to share the gospel with him as well!

It is really sweet to see individuals who feel compelled to approach us and participate in deeper discussions! The Lord was so kind to give our Vallejo team this kind of encouragement! Please pray with us that the Lord would stir Jay and John's hearts and that they would desire to learn more and trust in the Lord for salvation.

We want to highlight the impact blessing bags have as part of our ministry! Sometimes, individuals are not willing to engage in discussion. Even though 'material items' are not the primary focus of our outreach and ministry, blessing bags can build bridges so that gospel conversations can occur!

Our central Concord team had the opportunity to speak with Charles. At first, Charles did not want to talk with us, but after we offered him a blessing bag and clothing, he opened up to conversation. Charles believes the gospel to be true, but added that he does not trust people due to hypocrisy and some of his past experiences. We offered to pray with him, and he was open to that. Please pray with us that the Lord would soften Charles' heart and that we would have the opportunity to share the gospel with him during a future outreach.
