May 3rd Prayer Update

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
— Philippians 4:19-20

It was a wonderful celebration of fellowship and food for our third annual Walkathon in Lafayette. We are thankful to everyone who participated and we are especially grateful for all the help which brought that event together. If you would like to see photos, please click the link below.

We also have several prayer requests from our last outreach to share with you.

When approaching Bobby, he was lying on the ground with his left shoe off telling the team his foot had been injured when he was young and the pain continues to be a problem for him. Also found nearby was some drug paraphernalia.  He was interested in having a conversation telling the team he has a "license to preach" believing he has eternal security though unable to admit his need for repentance from sin. Please pray that God will use the materials he accepted to soften his heart and help him realize his need to repent and embrace true saving faith in a relationship with the risen Savior.

We had a good interaction with Mike Thomas during our last outreach. He was very happy to receive prayer from our team and got teary eyed when we offered hin a Bible. Pray that we are able to follow up with Mike and that he reads God's word.

In North Concord we had the opportunity to talk to Kenisha who was sitting on a sidewalk near an AM/PM store. Though somewhat incoherent, she engaged with us about Easter and her upbringing in Catholicism and her home life.  The team prayed with her and found a valuable lesson to not judge a situation and in this case starting a conversation, seeing how the Lord uses it.

Louis had a "fascinating" account to the team. He is from Colombia. He claims to have walked all the way to the Texas border, flew from Texas to Oakland and once in Oakland managed to obtain an electric bike which he rode to Concord. Undoubtedly there is much more to his account which remains a mystery. Our team would like to find a way to offer Louis a Spanish Bible study.

In Vallejo our team spotted Bo who was wearing a cross. He happily accepted a bible having misplaced the one he previously had.  He said he wants to study and joined in discussion. It seems Bo would be a good candidate for a bible study. We took down his phone number. Please pray that God would open the door for us to study with Bo soon. We believe that there are several in the Vallejo homeless encampment that would be open to a bible study.

Daniel is another resident of the Vallejo encampment that potentially is a good candidate for bible study. When we handed him a bible, he immediately opened it up and started going through it. He is one that may be hard to connect with. Having been given four cell phones from a local program he loses them. Please pray that God enables us to connect with Daniel and would work out the ability to establish a relationship with him.

We usually send an outreach team to visit the area where Airport Appliance in Concord is located. Our team found Melissa, who was leaving the homeless camp. She was really dehydrated and the team gave her some water. She told our team that she is ex-military and she lives in her car. Beyond that, it was difficult to have an in-depth conversation with Melissa. We pray that we may encounter her and  have other opportunities for meaningful conversations.

Kelly is someone we have seen before. She was thankful to accept coffee, a bagged lunch, and blessing bags. She asked us to explain the difference between the Old and New Testaments, as well as having other questions about the bible. It was a good start, but the team could see that Kelly was struggling with some mental confusion. We pray that the Lord can help bring some mental clarity so she will be able to better grasp the gospel message.

Please pray these individuals read the Bibles they received.
